What I need from you
I expect that we’ll be working about half of the time, approximately. But I do need you to be ready to do the following things on a daily basis.
Do basic video edits daily.
Film daily.
Work with basic sound edits
Drive fairly long distances.
Live in pretty basic settings - sleep in a car-bed/tent, or houses in villages.
What sorts of projects will we be working on?
We’ll definitely be working on educational Youtube type videos, like THESE ONES.
Vlogs with cinematic elements, like THESE ONES.
I have many more projects in mind, which I consider far more interesting and hopefull we can work on those too, depending on how this pandemic goes.
What I can offer
Material stuff
My Landcruiser 80 series, great for off-roading and modified with a bed to travel and to sleep in (to use, not to keep)
I will lend you my cameras for filming.
I will pay all your daily expenses - food, lodging, gasoline, entry fees, visas etc. This excludes medical expenses, please come with insurance.
Will you get a salary?
At this point, I cannot offer you a salary, so please don’t look at this as a way to make money. I’m sure that the experience you’ll gain will give you the tools to create your income. You’ll definitely have a chance to get footage and/or photos that you can use for various purposes. You won’t have to spend a cent once you arrive in South America.
Of course, I’m saying this today, in this strange and unpredictable economic climate. If things are going well financially, if we’re clicking and being productive, we'll talk again.
More than material
You will learn whatever you’re interested in relating to photography, content creation, and travel. I’ll be there to guide you and to share whatever knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years.
The main thing – this will be an experience like no other. I don’t want to promise you the adventure of a lifetime since we’re in this weird situation at the moment, but... I’m suspecting that it may very well be. We’ll go to places where few regular travelers venture out. We’ll meet fascinating people. It won’t be like those travel Youtubers who stay in fancy hotels and hardly get out there. It will be a real, and very, very possibly – a life-changing experience.
Will you have free time to do your own thing?
I suspect that we’ll have some intense workdays and some days where we’re doing nothing at all. Whenever we’re not working - you’re free to do whatever you like, within reason.
Things that disqualify you
Some of these are pretty obvious, but just in case, I’ll mention them.
No racism, or the kinds of people who look down on others.
Since I don’t smoke and I have a small daughter, I really don’t want smoking around me.
No heavy drugs.
I have nothing against religion, but if you’re the type of person who tries to convert everyone to your faith, please don’t apply. I have my own beliefs and don’t need to be converted or saved.
The rest - I’m just looking for a decent, considerate human being.
Extra points
If you can speak Spanish and/or Portuguese - amazing.
Being able to fly a drone is a big plus, but not necessary. More necessary is your ability to learn to fly a drone.
